Parent and tutor Safeguarding agreement – James Lowe

I place the safety, wellbeing and best interests of every child at the centre of my work, ensuring all tutoring reflects current safeguarding expectations in accordance with good practice and the most recent Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance.

Parental/Guardian Presence
A parent or responsible adult must be present in the home during all face to face tutoring sessions, or readily contactable at all times if working in another part of the property. For online sessions, a parent must also be aware that the session is taking place and remain contactable throughout.

Open and Transparent Working
Sessions are conducted in appropriate, visible settings (e.g. family spaces or agreed online platforms). Communication remains professional, appropriate and focused on learning at all times. All electronic resources will be shared prior to lessons via a parent email address only.

Sharing of Important Information
Parents are encouraged to share any relevant information that may support their child’s learning and wellbeing. This includes, but is not limited to:

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Medical conditions

Mental health considerations

Pastoral or behavioural needs

This information will be treated with the utmost sensitivity and confidentiality and used solely to ensure appropriate support.

Confidentiality and Safeguarding
While confidentiality is respected, it is important to note that any safeguarding concerns relating to a child’s safety or welfare cannot be kept confidential. Where necessary, appropriate advice will be sought or concerns shared with relevant professionals (e.g. social care) in line with safeguarding responsibilities.

Professional Boundaries
Communication with pupils will take place through agreed channels.  No private or informal contact will be initiated outside of agreed tutoring arrangements.
